Use technology to visit with family and friends

Today we do not need to be next to each other to be close.  Technology like phones and tablets allow us to have virtual visits using video chat programs like Skype and Facetime.  In addition, the newest Echo line is the Amazon Echo Show.  This device includes a 7-inch touchscreen with voice-enabled capabilities.

Loneliness is a major issue among older adults.  Many people lack the social network depicted on “The Golden Girls”.  Technology can provide the companionship, friendship and emotional support that is needed.  Stay in touch with old friends, be part of the family events such as birthdays and holidays through the use of virtual visits.  You don’t have to fly there to be there.
